Aimsniff
Around the summer of 2003 I was surfing the internet for information on packet sniffing, and ran across a small Perl all named AimSniff. It is is basically a niche packet sniffer for monitoring AOL instant messenger conversations and chats. It has since grown to include ICQ and MSN as well. When I first encountered it, the documentation for running in on windows was scarce at best. I contacted the developer and created a step by step guide to installing and using on windows. Over time this developed into a compiled version of the perl script to lower the required dependencies, and one person went as far as to create an MSI package. Both of these i've taken to hosting here and the links are available below as well as on the AimSniff forums. Thus began my almost 4 year volunteer support effort; to this day I still answer IMs, e-mails and forum posts and try to help users with both Linux and windows.
