AboutA lot of information about me, and my life, can be gained through my resume and linkedIn profile. For those parts that can't, this small biography should suffice. I was raised with my brother, Knute, in North Plains, OR from two years old until the 5th grade. North Plains, at the time, was a small town on highway 26th heading towards the Oregon coast from Portland. I grew up on a little over an acre of land a few blocks from the main downtown area. I would walk to school every morning, and walk home every afternoon. The house I grew up in was a former farmhouse when the area was less developed, and was two stories and an unfinished basement. In 2nd grade my parents divorced, and I continued to live with my mother in North Plains until the end of 5th grade. Starting after 5th grade, I moved from North Plains to Sheridan, OR to live with my father. I attended Chapman middle school for a year and a half before my father, my brother and I moved to Hillsboro, OR during winter break of 7th grade. After moving to Hillsboro, I began attending Evergreen middle school. Of note is that, had I never moved from North Plains, Evergreen would have been the school I would have attended. Many of my friends from elementary school in North Plains were attending Evergreen. Following middle school I attended Glencoe high school. During the four years I went to Glencoe, I alternated between living with my father and mother. During my senior year I was accepted to OSU. I graduated in June of 2003 with an above average, but otherwise unremarkable transcript. I started OSU in the fall of 2003 as a Computer Science major, and lived in Wilson hall during my freshman year. I continued to take classes during the summer, and lived in West hall. I switched to West hall for my sophomore year, and lived their until spring break when I moved in my own apartment at Oak Park Apartments, just south of campus. I applied for OSU for graduate school during my senior year, and in June of 2007 I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and a 3.29 GPA. I started as a PhD seeking graduate student in fall of 2007, and worked with Dr. Carlos Jensen in the Human-Computer Interaction research group. During winter of 2009 I decided to change to a Masters of Engineering (non-thesis masters), and I took my final oral exam in June of 2009. After turning down two job offers during the summer, I accepted a position at IP Fabrics in Beaverton, OR in July of 2009 to start on August 31st. I moved to Richland Terrace apartments in Beaverton a week before, and have lived there since. |
